Interior and Exterior Painting Process

Your AsNu painting project is divided into seven separate stages, to ensure that you are given the chance to inspect and approve each stage of your job. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your current stage of works, we will not proceed with any further sections of your project until you are 100% happy with the stage completed. It's part of of our Communication Promise to you - it's your house, so your opinion is the one that matters most.

All stage approvals will be emailed to you so you have a permanent record.

First, if you have opted for the service, our Colour Consultant Rachel will help you create the perfect colour scheme for your home.

Second, we will take you through a quality and quality inspection of the materials to be used at your home, to ensure that the correct materials and colours have been ordered and that all the materials meet the relevant building code standards for your planned project.

Third, we will conduct a thorough preparation of all surfaces to be painted, including a softwash for exterior surfaces, scraping of peeling areas and hand-sanding of sandable surfaces for adhesion, washing of all surfaces to remove dirt, grime and sanding dust, and electrical orbital sanding of flat edged surfaces of windows and doors. If we suspect that your surfaces may be have been built using asbestos or painted with lead based paints, we conduct thorough checks for the presence of asbestos and thorough lead safety testing and, if necessary, take steps to ensure that lead and asbestos removal is conducted in a safe manner. We skim fill where required and gap fill all cracks with a flexible, paintable gap filler, putty holes, and apply a general spot primer or sealer as required, the apply a full coat of Zinsser's Bin 123 Binder/Sealer/Primer Stain Killer where needed to cover calcimine, water stains, smoke and visible previously unsealed flat plastic.

Fourth, we conduct a thorough 34 point Home Building Safety Inspection, in order to identify and bring to your attention any areas that may require attention to ensure the quality and longevity of your paint project. Some repairs may be required to ensure that the 10 year warranty can be upheld. We will inspect for damage or wear to glass, steel, timber, gyprock or timber surfaces, flyscreens and gauze, sheeting, eaves, latches and locks, plumbing and electrical, steelwork, roof pointing, tiles, concrete, bricks, and render, and check that balustrades, glass, drainpipes, safety gates and smoke detectors meet current Australian safety standards. We will also check that appropriate clearances will be left under painting to ensure doors and windows can be safely opened and closed.

Fifth, we will finalise your coats, sanding between coats on windows and doors. We will ensure that internal woodwork has one coat of fast dry oil based undercoat and one coat of enamel finish, internal ceilings and cornices have two coats of 100% acrylic flat, and internal walls have two coats of premium interior paint. General spot primer/sealer as required to exterior surfaces, though usually premium self-priming products such are used.
No trade paints will be used. Pole sanding is completed between coats. Additional coats will be signed off where previously arranged on the contract. Batch numbers of all paints will be recorded for warranty purposes.

Sixth, we will conduct a thorough site clean of you property to remove all paint peelings, dust or other debris left behind from the job, and take you through the completed project to ensure that all planned objectives have been achieved and that the quality of the work meets, or hopefully exceeds, your expectations.

Last, we will apply a ten year warranty to your job, which includes annual inspections to ensure that your paint job is standing up to the test of time. AsNu leaves you with sealed, brand new 1L tins of every colour used on your job should repairs be needed over the ten year period.

Testimonials

Testimonials

Cathy and Ian, Birchgrove February 2017

We chose AsNu because we needed some essential carpentry repairs done as well as painting of the outside of our historic timber house. AsNu were able to do it all, which made it a lot more convenient for us. The team was very easy to deal with and were considerate about being around the house. We got help from the colour consultant with choosing the colours and they look fantastic. There was also helpful advice about the choices we had for doing the carpentry repairs, including how to do it most economically. The final paint job looks really nice quality and well finished. We’re really pleased with the outcome as well as how the AsNu staff handled the job. We’re very happy to recommend them, for both simple jobs as well as complex jobs that go beyond painting.

Lilly Murray from Glebe - January 2017

"House renovation can be your worst nightmare. Fortunately, that was not my experience with ASNU. Two smart young men, Mark and Jordon painted my house inside and out. They were punctual, efficient and made every effort on my behalf to ensure that I was happy with the result. I can totally recommend ASNU."
